Ashland, OR – May 18, 2004 Governor Ted Kulongoski has appointed Plexis Healthcare Systems CEO Jorge Yant to serve as a member of the Oregon Health Policy Commission. Yant joins thirteen other members on the Commission, which is a policy-making body and primary advisory committee to the Office for Health Policy & Research, the Governor and the Legislative Assembly.
“Mr. Yant will bring tremendous expertise to Oregon's Health Policy Commission,” said Bruce Goldberg, MD and administrator of the Office for Oregon Health Policy and Research. “As a successful businessman, he understands many of the healthcare issues facing employers and employees today. In addition, he understands the complexities of healthcare delivery systems and healthcare information. We are grateful that he is willing serve the citizens of Oregon in this capacity.”
“Healthcare is evolving rapidly, and Oregon should be at the forefront of many of these new developments,” said Yant. “I’ve had the opportunity to see how the healthcare system works from the inside and how processes can be significantly streamlined to reduce the cost of healthcare. I look forward to working with the other members of the Commission to find solutions that improve healthcare, reduce administrative costs while improving access, and begin a new era of affordable healthcare for all of Oregon’s citizens.”
Yant has been a leading innovator in healthcare benefits administration for more than a decade. Before founding Plexis Healthcare Systems in 1996, Yant served as Vice President of Mariner Systems medical software division. Top-ranked Plexis CM automates the benefits administration process. The company’s next generation software solution, due for release in late in 2004, is designed to support new health plans that feature consumer-driven options and vastly improved access to information by all concerned. Plexis currently serves healthcare organizations across the United States and in four other countries.
